Celebrating of the South Indian wedding ceremony.



  • South Indian weddings are known for their vibrant colors and lively celebrations. The wedding traditions are in the culture and religion of the region, making it a significant event for the families involved.
  • The wedding ceremony takes place in a temple or a mandap, which is decorated with flowers and other traditional elements. The bride and groom are dressed in traditional attire, with the bride wearing a silk Halfsaree. The bride's saree with intricate embroidery and gold zari work, while the groom's outfit is often simple and understated.


  • The wedding ceremony begins with the groom's family arriving at the mandap, where they are welcomed by the bride's family. The bride's mother performs aarti and offers prayers to the gods for the success and happiness of the wedding.



  • The bride and groom then exchange garlands, a tradition known as jai mala. This is followed by the kanyadaan ceremony, where the bride's father gives her away to the groom. The bride and groom then take their vows, known as the saat phere, where they circle the sacred fire seven times, and commit to each other.


  • After the wedding ceremony, the newlywed's Prity Bride is taken to the groom's home, where they are welcomed with a traditional Arti and showered with flowers. The couple then takes part in a graha pravesh, where they enter the groom's home and seek the blessings of the gods for a happy and prosperous life together.



  • The wedding reception is usually a grand affair, with family and friends coming together to celebrate the newlyweds. The reception hall is decorated with flowers and lights, and a stage is set up for the couple to sit and receive the guests. The bride and groom are usually served a traditional meal consisting of rice, sambar, rasam, and a variety of curries and desserts.



  • The reception is also marked by various cultural performances, including music, dance, and drama. The guests often participate in these performances, making it a lively and enjoyable event for all.
